Why Doesn’t My Computer Read Discs???

Ok, so my computer is an Hp and I just got it In January. It worked fine and I played my Sims 2, and it played audio CD’s and everything. But now it won’t read ANY TYPE OF DISC. The green light in the drive just keeps blinking and blinking and then it stops. There’s no whirring noise or anything!!! Nothing happens. I’ve already checked “device manager” and it says this device is working properly, when, clearly, IT ISN’T!! I also tried uninstalling the drive and restarting my computer, and it still doesn’t work. WTF?!!! DO I NEED A NEW GODDAMN DVD ROM DRIVE??!! I don’t get why it would just suddenly stop reading discs. IT’S FREAKIN BRAND NEW!! HELP!! I NEED HELP….!!!

sounds like your gunna need a new drive. the laser could have gone out, lens could be full of film…bunch of different things could have happened to it internally that would cause the system to think its functioning properly even though its not.
if the computer is that new i would argue to hell and back to have the part replaced.
