Problems Getting Xbox 360 Controller Working With Vista 64 Bit?

Problems getting Xbox 360 controller working with vista 64 bit,, I cannot find answer. I have good batteries brand new controllers I am I have controller wired. I installed software over and over install, install nothing works. I get Microsoft accessories status that floating xbox 360 connection icon but just will not connect. I go to game controllers in control panel, shows nothing. But I installed the software, I go to the device manager and its installed there. Just not in control panel, in game controllers. Help if you can.

idk who to call about hooking up to a pc but maby try xbox 360 line 1800-4my-xbox

i had problems with this too when i wanted to use my controller. you HAVE HAVE HAVE to use a WIRED controller, no a wireless with a play and charge kit, it doesnt work, is HAS to be WIRED. i know you sai that you have a wired controller, but that sentence was a little confusing to me because of you saying you have brand new batteries.
make sure youve checked on google, just search “xbox 360 controller hooked up to vista pc” or along those lines, and just read forums. i dont remember exactly how i got mine to work (im on vista too) but it does work, and you do need a WIRED controller… cant stress it enough!
